Frank Riggs: No one-time gimmicks; we need truth in budgeting

I will provide the fiscally responsible leadership that's been missing in our state through fundamental budget and tax reforms. We won't "kick the can down the road" on my watch. I will focus like a laser on the economy and creating living wage jobs, not through corporate welfare or crony capitalism, but by a fairer and flatter tax code, reducing corporate tax rates, and economic policies that create a level playing field.

The next governor is going to inherit major fiscal challenges. The sales tax increase has expired and we've run out of one-time gimmicks like "borrowing long" against state-owned buildings and pledging lottery revenues to pay for annual operating costs.
