State of North Carolina Archives: on Gun Control

Paul Wright: Right to bear arms is an ancient right

Keep outlawing guns & eventually only outlaws will have guns. Our Senate must quit tampering with this right, causing unrest among the people, who are constantly having to lobby to keep their rights to bear arms. The "right of the people to keep and bear arms" is an ancient right placed in the 2nd Amendment for self & family-defense and for protection from a totalitarian takeover of the nation, as occurs in lands where the people are first disarmed by their government.

Alma Adams: Start by having some common sense gun laws

We must do more to combat rising crime rates in America. It starts by having some common sense gun laws.

Gun control legislation is essential to fighting crime, protecting our citizens, and reducing dangers our law enforcement face each day. Congress needs to ban certain high powered assault weapons, close the gun show loophole, require background checks for purchases of firearms, and improve the tracking of firearms in our country.
