Jack Orchulli on Homeland Security

2004 former Republican challenger for Senate (CT)

Confirm Goss as CIA Director immediately

Orchulli says the Senate should move promptly to approve the nomination of Congressman Porter Goss Director of the CIA. “This is not a time for political theater. We must begin the investment and rebuilding of our intelligence operations.”

Focus on protection, not intelligence turf wars

“An effective coordination of anti-terrorist intelligence among the different agencies has to be the new priority. It’s time to put petty jealousies aside and focus on protecting our citizens.”

More funding for First Responders

Connecticut is not getting its fair share of the available funds for Homeland Security. Our submarine base, nuclear power plants, Coast Guard Academy, Fortune 500 corporate centers, and proximity to New York and Boston puts us at high risk. We need to give our First Responders, our police and firemen, the equipment and training they need to continue keeping us safe and secure.

More military training, equipment, and pay

Our military must have the best training, the best equipment, and the best pay. We must respect the efforts and sacrifices being made by these brave men and women on behalf of our safety and freedom, by providing them with quality health care. The reality is that we are in Iraq and we must get the job done. America, and the rest of the civilized world, will be safer if democracy is able to grow and flourish in the Middle East.

Fight To Keep Marine One In CT

Jack Orchulli, Republican candidate for United States Senate, today reiterated his pledge to fight tooth-and-nail to keep the Marine One helicopter contract with Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft. “Whether they are Democrat or Republican, every President since Kennedy has flown in a Connecticut-made Sikorsky helicopter. Today we are in competition with a foreign company to build the next-generation Marine One,” Orchulli stated. “It would send the wrong message to have our President riding in a foreign-made helicopter. I won’t let that happen. I’ll fight everyday to keep these jobs right here in Connecticut.“

”When the Department of Defense cancelled the Comanche helicopter program with Sikorsky this past winter, Connecticut’s two senators were the last to know.“ Orchulli continued, ”If we stick with this Senator, we can most likely expect the same results.with Connecticut’s Senators being the last to know and Sikorsky’s workers stuck holding the bag.“
